Having established the Ana Masry (I’m Egyptian) in 2007 and having released his first album in 2009 in Egypt, Ehaab Abdou, GSPIA graduate (MID 2004) and singer-songwriter, will talk about his vision, experience and views on music and its role in promoting important values of citizenship, national unity in Egypt and touching upon similar issues across the Middle East region. In addition to talking about his music and experience with it over the past few years, Ehaab will also sing some of his Egyptian Arabic songs live “a cappella” (with no accompanying instruments) that evening.

About the Ana Masry band:

The Ana Masry band is an Egyptian musical band that was launched in November 2007. It aims to promote the pride in Egypt’s unique multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious identity and heritage. Through its New Original and Old Egyptian songs, unique fusions of Egyptian Christian Hymns, Muslim Sufi Chanting, Nubian singing, Egyptian poetry and more, it aims to promote the values of harmony in diversity, tolerance and national unity. Most of the band’s new original songs have been written by Ehaab.
